Screaming Mountain Goats chosen as team moniker

In a strategic move aimed at striking fear in the hearts (and ears) of competitive teams, Screaming Mountain Goats was chosen as the team name.

This will, of course, require new logoware.

In other news, the National Congress of Goats issued a resolution opposing continued usage of sports team names, mascots and logos derived from the genus "goat" as well as its various species. Various goat activist groups view this practice as disrespectful and offensive.

A spokesperson for the Screaming Mountain Goats said, "We certainly mean no disrespect to goats. On the contrary, we are honoring the sturdiness and agility of the genus with the name.

"If someone wants to be offended, they should consider some of the other team names: Norm's Maggots, 5 Donkeys and a Mule, Mizuno Muppets, 12 Pack, Blue Ridge Streakers, Insane Posse, Kill Bill, and so on. I mean, c'mon!"
